**While filming the breakup scene in the forest Rob and Kristen were being swarmed by mosquitos.

**When Melissa Rosenberg wrote the Twilight screenplay she “tried to keep the fan base out of (her) head, but (she) couldn’t avoid it by the time of New Moon.”

**She gave the men in Port Angeles motorcycles to make it a more “significant moment” and because motorcycles will become “an important part of her relationship with Jacob”.

**Taylor began working out immediatly after he was done filming Twilight because he knew of the transformation his character would go through. He was able to show the producer’s that he was visual able to represent the changed Jacob.

**In all the “vision” sequences Edward is wearing the same outfit he does when he said “goodbye” to Bella because that is the last memory she holds of him.

**Even the cameras used and their movements are done to show the relationship between the characters.

**They scouted many locations for the Cullen house, but found one that “was comparable enough with the house in Portland.”

**The Cullen house used for Twilight was “a very specific house, and the only way out of that puzzle for us was to put portions of the story of New Moon in other parts of the house”.

**The sequence for the birthday partyl “Edward relates the history of the Volturi to Bella, she becomes wounded in the hand, and Edward faces off against Jasper.”

**Rob quote: “The birthday scene at the Cullen house is like the ideal birthday party. The house is beautifully decorated and everyone is happy. Edward is looking at Bella and thinking that she can become part of his family and his life–that maybe this can work out the way he wants it to.”

**They used the Blue Ray DVD of Twilight to help them with the age, color, texture and features of Bella’s house and room.

**They used the Twilight Illustrated Companion for help finding Bella’s truck.

OK MAJOR VISUAL SPOILER HERE:

One special challenge for the production team was how to convey Bella’s depression once Edward departs. In the books..the month pages do it. (October, November, December, January) In the film the passage of time is represented with visual effects. Bella sits in her chair in the bedroom and a camera circles around here while the seasons change outside her window.

**Another shot manipulation, instead of Bella running to her truck and driving home after seeing the wolves in the meadow, she runs out of the woods and tells Charlie immediatly that she saw them. Changes made to make the scene more efficient.

**The dreamcatcher stirs up emotions in all the major characters: Jacob says it will catch bad dreams. Edward is irritated that his rival gave Bella an intimate gift, and Charlie regrets that it stops working.

**Film Editor Peter Lambert edited a portion of the film during his daily commute. This may be the first major motion picture in which the bigest protion of the first assembly of the film was edited in the backseat of a car.

**As a sign that Bella is commited to Edward her clothes are linked to his color wise. After he leaves she doesn’t pay much attention to her appearance.

**They wanted Jacob’s house to be “like a stepping stone into the forest world”. So it’s further from the heart of the reservation.

**Emily and Sam’s house is deeper in the forest, more seperate from regular life.

**art director Cathrerine Ircha helped make sure the prodcutions maintained “fan friendly continutiy”. She kept an eye on fan sites and blogs .

**when they are rebuilding the bikes there is a montage of scenes.

**La séquence pour la fête d'anniversaire “Edward raconte l'histoire des Volturi à Bella, elle se blesse à la main et Edward fait face à Jasper.”

**Rob dit : “La scène de l'anniversaire chez les Cullen c'est comme une fête idéale. La maison est très bien décorée et tout le monde est content. Edward regarde Bella et pense qu'elle peut faire partie de la famille et de sa vie – que peut être ça marchera à sa façon.”

**Ils ont utilisé le DVD Blue Ray de Twilight pour les aider avec les âges, les couleurs, les texture et les aspects de la maison de Bella et de sa chambre.

**Le dreamcatcher déclenche l'émotion de tous les personnages : Jacob dit qu'il attrapera les mauvais rêves. Edward est irrité par le geste de son rival, il a donné un cadeau intime à Bella et Charlie regrette le fait qu'il cesse de fonctionner.

**Le monteur du film Peter Lambert a travaillé une partie du film à partir des rushs quotidiens. C'est peut être le 1er film dans lequel la plus grosse partie de la 1ère version du film a été faite à l'arrière d'une voiture.

**En signe d'engagement vis à vis d' Edward les vêtements de Bella sont en lien avec ceux d'edward. Après son départ, elle ne fait plus attention à son apparence.

**Ils voulaient que la maison de Jacob soit “comme un pierre au milieu de la forêt”. Donc c'est plus au coeur de la réserve.

**La maison d'Emily et Sam est plus loin dans la forêt, à l'écart de toute vie.

**Le directeur artistique Catherine Ircha s'est assurée que la productions conserve “la continuité avec l'amitié des fans”. elle a gardé un oeil sur les sites de fans et les blogs .

**Quote from Taylor: "The hate that werewolves and vampires have for each other goes way back. The treaty is the most important hting, Jacob is always reminding the vampires about the treaty. So we have a scene at the end where Jacob, Bella and Edward are together and Jacob is getting kicked out. Edward is about to leave with Bella and Jacob reminds Edward, one last time "Remember the treaty." {ok this gives me shivers}

**The tattoo the wolfpack members have was designed based on a series of tales the Production Designer, David Brisban, heard while visiting the Quileute tribe. "One thread that really stuck in my mind referenced the twinning of the wolf character having to do with strength and togetherness." It is a double wolf motif and had 6 variations in both black and red, but one was chosen that is all black.

**They used full scale cutouts as a visual reference for the wolves. Each weighed 20-30 lbs and had a hole in the side for someone to use to carry them.

**The wolves were each given characteristics based on the actors playing them, which is linked to the characters in the story. (Same=big and black) (Paul=more muscular and aggressive) (Embry=thinner and smaller)

**It was important to make Jacob's wolf "iconic". In the animation he had to carry himself with an air of pride and nobility.

**The animators studied real wolves in packs to help them get a deeper feeling for the creature they were creating.

**The main model was Jacob's wolf, all the others are based off of that.

**Taylor did his own stunt for the "phase scene" and not only had to leap over Kristen, but was rigged so he'd stop in the air before the transformation. His body was also replaced with a CG version for part of the shot.

**The 1st trailer that was at the MTV awards was a "dress rehersal". They didn't have all the time they needed to put some of the effects in during Jacob's transformation and have since added to it.

**The Nomadic or Feral vampires have a new look in New Moon, more elegant, less rock and roll, this was at Chris' direction. The feeling was that they had been on a killing spree and had personal effects from their victims, and thus better clothes.

**Victoria is more stylish, less earthy with clothes that flow and show movement

**Laurent is more stylish, yet Edi asked to keep the bare chest showing under his jacket.

**Rachelle did her stunts during the forest scene where her character is being chased by Charlie and the "hunters". She was swinging through the woods on wires.

**One of the pictures of Rachelle from the companion shows her sitting on the floor in front of a pile of ashes, could this be James??

**Quote from Taylor:"I definatly think it's a prejudice the werewolves have towards all vampires. And, especially for Jacob, it's because Edward Cullen, the guy who has his girl. But, I gotta admit, {the Cullens} are pretty decent vampires"

**Wardrobe for the Cullens was updated. Chris Weitz felt that in Twilight they were a little too seperated color wise from the rest of the people in town. So they added a bit more to the color pallete, staying in the cool realm, but moving away from pastel hues to steel grays and blues.

**Makeup was changed also to make them more translucent, without appearing stark white.

**Wig's changed as well, but in limited ways since they were limited by what was all ready established in the first film. In Twilight Nikki bleached her hair, but for New Moon she is wearing a wig. Laurent's wig was changed from synthetic to one made with real human hair.

**Edward's appartion was seen as a "flame" moving elegantly and fluidly. Chris gravitated toward this because it was like Edward was carrying a torch for Bella.

**For 90% of the film Rob appears in the same suit he wore at Bella's birthday party.

**There is an original flashback to the meadow scene with changed "sparkle effect"

**The film makers wanted to make a fresh interpretation of the "diamond guy" effect, similar to sunight on snow.
"We decided to something based on the sparkle of this statuary marble from Thasos, a Greek Island, which I always kind of thought the author was going for with this vampire effect. It has a kind of crystalline structure, this diamond sparkle. Another inspiration was the way Tiffany lights its diamonds, how the multifaceted surface sparkles when light hits it. From that starting point, we then wanted to enhance those qualities with a slight translucency."

**Edward arrives in Italy wearing the SAME suit he's worn for months. The pristine suit is now threadbare, the jacket is gone, his pants are diry and his shoes are all scuffed up! {ok this is making me cry thinking of it.....poor Edward!!}

**Chris Weitz quote "I think two thousand years of living has made the Volturi slightly nuts, has led them to think they're pratcially gods, and has given them a perverse attitude to human life."

**Bella's first view of the Volturi is in a painting at the Cullen's house. In a magical transition the camera pushes into the painting and takes us back to the past.

**There were two looks for the Volturi, one for the 1800's and one for contemporary. In the 1800's Aro is dressed in the lightest clothing and in the present time he is in the darkest, all showing status and power.

**Michael Sheen quote: "In a way, playing a vampire is sort of like playing Hamlet, there have been so many depictions. Aro is dangerous and deadly and powerful, yet the way he is written he doesn't come across as a sinister Dracula character--Stephenie describes his voice in the book as being feathery and like a long sigh. I love the idea that the vampires, generally, as a species are very attractive to their prey. They're the perfect predators, they've evolved to be able to lure their prey, the humans, to them."

**Kristen quote: "It's funny, the book says they have no regard for human life, but the way Aro treats Edward and Bella is oddly compassionate."

**In the original screenplay Melissa Rosenberg had the idea of having a huge battle with Edward and even Alice fighting and being slung around. Stephenie reined her in and pointed out that Felix would be a challenge enough for Edward.

**The idea of the fight was not to show a superhero battle. "Edward is like the average guy caught in a bad situation."

**Vampire speed for New Moon means "slow motion". We found if you sped up the camera speed it would look silly.

**The fight scene switches from the perspective of Bella watching the fight, to putting the audience in with the vampires as they fought.

**MAJOR FIGHT SPOILER:

At one point Edward's head gets smashed on the marble floor and his vampire skin appears to crack, along with the floor. It seems Edward is done for, but his wound suddenly heals. Chris Weitz spoke with Stephenie and got her approval. Any ideas or questions always went through Stephenie since she has the whole mythology in her head.

Quote from Rob: "All the vampires, especially the Volturi, seem very comfortable with their existence, but they see themselves as monsters. And when they see this human who says, "I love this guy,' they all obviously want that, too. They want ot believe that can happen. So that curiousity, their fascination with that, is essentially what saves him."

**Quote from Michael Sheen: "There are a lot of things involved in the idea of playing someone who's sort of immortal. Aro, for me, has a genuine fascination with people, with vampires, with other beings. He can get caught up in the drama of what's going on for people. He can be delighted by someone one moment, and kill them the next."

**The initial cut of the film was 3 hours. "I know Twilight fans will think 'Three hours of Edward and Bella and Jacob, that would be heaven, But the reality was it was too flabby. So we had to cut down the length, but it was never about cutting scenes, just cutting down the length of scenes." Peter Lambert, editor

**More from Peter Lambert "This is a movie with visual effects and action and horror, but it's really a love story, we're on an emotional journey with the characters. and Kristen, Taylor and Robert were amazing, they were totally into their characters."

**word from Summit President, Erig Feig, "Each book has a central emotional quandry and scope and we've tried to find the right directors for each. Twiligth is raw and real and Catherine Hardwicke was the first director I met with and the only director for that movie. New Moon has more complicated emotions with bigger forces at work, and Chris Weitz was the director with the skill to show that. On Eclipse the challenge is how do you visualize and show an audience that choice has consequences, that Bella is ina crucible of multiple decisions and option? Who can get that David Slade."

**Final word from Chris Weitz "This movie, for me, has been redemptive. I had a difficult go on my last film, where I felt the movie was kind of taken away from me. This movie has been a joy in comparison and I've been able to make use of everything I've learned up to this point, and I've gotten the chance to work with some extraordinary people. Going in, I didn't realize the enthusiasm of the fan base, and that was also inspiring. As Peter Lambert and I sat in the editing room, it gave me an added incentive. I don't think anyone knew there would be this degree of enthusiasm and that there would be this cyclonic snowball effect of books and films feeding on one another to make this amazing cultrual moment."

Edward est sur le point de partir avec Bella et Jacob rappelle à Edward, une dernière fois, "Souviens toi du traité."

**Le tatouage des loups a été créé à partir de contes que le designer de la production, David Brisban, a entendu lors de sa visite dans la tribu des Quileute : "une chose ancrée dans mon esprit c'est la référence des loups qui combinent la force et la complicité " C'est un double motif et il y a 6 variations en rouge et noir mais au final on a choisi tout noir.

**Ils ont utilisé tous les découpages possibles pour les loups (en fait ce sont des loup en carton). Chaque loup pèse 40/60 kilos et ont un trou sur le côté pour qu'on puisse les porter.

**chaque loup a ses propres caractéristiques selon les acteurs (Sam = gros et noir/Paul = plus musclé et agressif/Embry = plus mince et plus petit)

**C'était important de faire du loup de Taylor une icône. Dans l'animation il doit avoir un air orgueilleux et noble.

**Les animateurs ont observé de vrai loups en meute pour les aider dans leur création.

**le modèle principal est le loup de Jacob et les autres sont travaillés à partir de lui

**Taylor a fait ses propres cascades pour "la scène de transformation" et non seulement a t il dû sauter au dessus de Kristen, mais il était attaché et a dû rester suspendu avant la transformation. Son corps a été remplacé par des images de synthèses pour le reste de la scène

**Le 1er trailer diffusé aux MTV awards était "une répétition". Ils n'avaient pas eu le temps de travailler tous les effets spéciaux de la transformation de Jacob et depuis ils les ont ajoutés.

**"ce qui est spécial chez Jacob c'est que c'est le seul qui se transforme dans les airs..." dit Taylor

**Laurent est plus stylé. pourtant Edi a demandé à ce qu'on voit sa poitrine sous sa veste.

**Rachelle a fait les cascades des scènes dans la forêt quand elle est poursuivie par Charlie et les "chasseurs". Elle se balançait dans les arbres grâce aux câbles.

**Une des photos montre Rachelle assise sur le sols, sur des cendres, est ce James ??

** Taylor : "Je pense que c'est un préjugé que les loups ont envers les vampires. Surtout pour Jacob, c'est à cause de Edward Cullen, le mec qui lui prend sa meuf. Mais je dois admettre que les Cullen sont des vampires assez corrects"

**La garde robe des Cullen a été mise aux goûts du jour. Chris Weitz pensait que dans twilight ils se distinguaient trop des autres personnes. Donc ils ont ajouté d'autres couleurs, mais en restant dans les couleurs froides, des bleus et des gris.

**le maquillage a été aussi changé, il ne fallait plus avoir ce maquillage trop blanc.

**Les perruques ont aussi changé mais ils ont été limités dans les choix pour garder la continuité de Twilight. Nikki avait décoloré ses cheveux, mais pour New Moon elle a une perruque. Laurent a une perruque faite de vrais cheveux, elle n'est plus synthétique.

**L'apparition d'Edward est semblable à une flamme bougeant avec élégance et fluidité. Chris a tourné autour de cette idée car Edward porte la torche pour Bella.

**Dans 90% du film Rob porte le même costume qu'il a à la fête d'anniversaire de Bella

**Il y a un flashback dans la prairie et ils ont changé l'effet "étincelant"

**les producteurs voulaient un nouvelle effet "diamant " semblable à la neige au soleil.
"On a décidé de se baser sur la statue de marbre de Thasos, une île Grecque et j'ai toujours pensé que l'auteur avait eu cette idée en tête pour les vampires. C'est une structure cristalline, cet effet diamant. Une autre inspiration celle de Tiffany qui illumine ses diamants, quand la surface brille à la lumière. A partir de là on a travaillé sur ce point et on a jouté un aspect transparent."

**Edward arrive en Italie portant le même costume qu'il porte depuis des mois. Son costume et bien élimé , il n'a plus de veste, son pantalon est sale et ses chaussures sont abîmées !

**Chris Weitz : "Je pense qu'une vie de 200 ans a rendu fou les Volturi, les a amenés à croire qu'ils étaient des dieux et leur a donné cette attitude perverse vis à vis des humains."

**Bella voit les Volturi pour la 1ère fois dans un tableau chez les Cullen. Dans une transition magique la caméra pousse le tableau et nous emmène dans le passé.

**Il y a deux looks pour les Volturi, celui de 1800 et un autre contemporain . En 1800's Aro a des vêtements légers et au présent c'est plus sombre ,montrant son pouvoir et son statut.

**Michael Sheen : "d'une certaine manière incarner un vampire c'est comme interpréter Hamlet. Aro est dangereux et puissant et pourtant il n'a pas l'air d'un sinistre Dracula. Stephenie décrit sa voix comme douce, comme un long soupir. J'adore l'idée que les vampires soient attirants pour leurs proies. ce sont des prédateurs parfaits, ils ont évolués pour attirer leur proie, les humains"

**Kristen : "C'est rigolo car les livres disent qu'ils se fichent des humains, mais Aro traite Edward et Bella avec compassion."

**dans le script original Melissa Rosenberg avait eu l'idée d'une grande bagarre pour Edward et Alice. Stephenie l'a ramenée à la réalité en disant que Felix était déjà un grand défi pour Edward.

**Pour la bataille il ne voulait pas de batailles de super héros. "Edward est un gars moyen dans une situation difficile."

**la vitesse des Vampires pour New Moon : "mouvement lent. on a vu que si on accélérait la caméra les mouvements seraient ridicules".

**Les batailles suivent le point de vue de Bella pour que le public voit la bagarre de ces vampires.

** SPOILER IMPORTANT :

A un moment la tête d'Edward est écrasée sur le sol de marbre et sa peau semble claquer. On croit qu'Edward est fichu mais sa blessure se soigne immédiatement. Chris Weitz a parlé avec Stephenie et a eu son accord. Toutes idées ou questions étaient soumises à Stephenie.

Rob: "Tous les vampires, en particulier les Volturi, semblent à l'aise avec leur existence, mais ils se voient comme des monstres . Et quand ils voient un être humain dire "J'aime cet homme" ils veulent ça également. Ils veulent croire que ça peut leur arriver. Donc c'est leur fascination qui le sauve."

**Michael Sheen: "Il y a des tas de choses à penser quand on incarne un être immortel. Aro a pour moi une véritable fascination pour le gens, les vampires ou les autres. Il peut se retrouver au milieu d'un drame. Il peut être ravi d'une personne et l'instant d'après la tuer."

**Peter Lambert : "Au départ le film faisait 3 heures. Je sais que les fans de Twilight vont penser "3 h d' Edward, Bella et Jacob, ce serait le paradis". Mais en fait c'était trop de blabla . Donc on a du faire des coupes, mais on n'a pas coupé de scènes, juste écourté"

** Peter Lambert : "C'est un film avec des effets spéciaux, de l'action et de l'horreur, mais c'est une histoire d'amour. on embarque dans un voyage émotionnel avec les personnages. Kristen, Taylor et Robert étaient incroyables, ils étaient dans leurs personnages".

**Président de Summit, Erig Feig : "Chaque livre est spécifique et on a essayé de trouver ça chez les réalisateurs. Twiligth est cru et réel, Catherine Hardwicke est la seule réalisatrice que j'ai vu pour ce film. New Moon est basé sur des émotions plus fortes, Chris Weitz était parfait pour ça. Pour Eclipse le défi est de montrer au public que les choix ont des conséquences, que Bella est cruciale pour de nombreuses décisions. Celui qui pouvait faire ça : David Slade."
