How To Be Soundtrack Release Date



Per the Dreamboat Records Facebook page, the soundtrack for How To Be will be released on April 12th!

The How To Be soundtrack includes 4 exclusive tracks performed and sung by Art (Robert Pattinson); the much requested Hammond Song from the trailer (The Roches); tracks by the Roller Coaster Project (Ronnie, played by Johnny White); and, the beautiful original score, written by Joe Hastings and produced by Gary Moore.

Dreamboat Records says they expect the record will be available for pre-order "soon" on their website

Report on ‘How To Be’ at Burbank Film Festival

My friend, Jeannie and I, attended the LA film premiere of How To Be at the Burbank Film Festival. We arrived a few hours early, when we noticed that there was a sign that read “First Come First Served”. Although we had tickets we knew seating might be a problem. Two films before How To Be, the room was almost to capacity. It was quite obvious by the amount of giggling girls in the theatre that How To Be was the main attraction, as the room was filled with Robert Pattinson fans of all ages (about 18 and older), plus a few men scattered here and there. I knew the director, Oliver Irving, had been scheduled to attend and do a Q&A at the end, but it had been announced earlier last week that he would be unable to attend. I was hoping someone representing the film might show up, but it wasn’t meant to be. I can report that the movie was a wonderful, quirky, comical film highlighted with a great performance by Rob. The audience laughed out loud in all the right places, and “aww”’d in unison when we felt Rob’s character, Art, go through awkward, depressing and even some funny but painfull moments. The movie received a roaring round of applause at the end and left you feeling hopeful for Art. Although we truly missed the director’s Q&A, we felt very excited and fortunate to be in attendance and were delighted for Rob that it was well received.

Le film du réalisateur Olivier Irving "how to be" est vraiment un film d'indépendant, dans la même veine que Napoleon Dynamite et Little Miss Sunshine. Ce film a des scènes boulversantes, parfois douloureuses, de part l'interprétation des acteurs.

En fin de compte, c'est l'étude d'une famille qui ne tourne pas rond et l'histoire du personnage principal maladroit, joué d'une façon extrêmement convaincante par Robert Pattinson. il faut vraiment le voir pour se rendre compte à quel point son interprétation est brillante.

tourné avant twilight, la nouvelle idole Pattinson a trouvé des fans pour se rallier à sa cause, qui ont entamé une campagne afin que le film soit distribué à grand renfort de Facebook et de pages de MySpace consacrées au film.

La séance pendant le Festival du cinéma International Burbank était, sans surprise, remplie d'une foule de fans de twilight de tous âges.

Satire humaine, how to be offre un dialogue psycho social en usant aussi de la comédie pour raconter l'histoire d'Art et son voyage introspectif.

Art est à un moment de crise dans sa vie - résultat d'une enfance passée auprès de parents froids et distants. Des années plus tard, il erre comme un jeune adulte sans but, sa vie ne le mène nulle part et elle tombe en morceaux. Sa petite amie Jessica (Alisa Arnah) le quitte, car elle le pensait sombre et énigmatique et c'est ce qui lui plaisait en lui mais elle a fini par se rendre compte qu'il est juste quelqu'un de triste et malheureux. Il retourne donc chez ses parents qui n'ont pas de temps à lui consacrer et sa mère lui dit brutalement qu'il est un échec et une déception.

Entre des mains américaines, le film ne serait pas une comédie sombre, mais une histoire sur "la fabrication d'un tueur psychopate". Mais les britanniques savent user de l'humour noir.

L'héritage d'un oncle décédé boulverse la situation. Art tombe sur un livre d'auto-assistance écrit par le médecin canadien docteur Levi Ellington (Powell Jones) et le fait venir en angleterre pour l'aider à devenir "plus normal."

Art quitte un travail sans avenir et est renvoyé d'un centre pour les sans abris dans lequel il avait pris un poste de bénévole pensant que cela allait l'aider à se sentir mieux. Il y a aussi sa bande de potes qui sont aussi mal dans leur peau que lui avec Ronny (Johnny White) l'agoraphobe, Nikki (Mike Pearce), un gars qui est tout simplement bizarre. Ronny suggère qu'ils n'ont qu'à former un groupe de musique.

ce petit film (80 minutes à peine), qui a déjà gagné un certain nombre de prix dans différents festivals, est sur la quête d'Art qui cherche une façon d'aller mieux dans sa vie et à être compris par ses parents qui ne l'acceptent pas pour ce qu'il est ou veut être.

Combien sommes nous à chercher à donner un sens à la vie : Où allons-nous ? How to be est une leçon sur la façon d'être et la façon de vivre ou du moins les moyens pour y arriver. En nous acceptant, nous pouvons réussir à être heureux en ne comptant que sur nous même... même si l'aide est là et si on arrive à surpasser notre souffrance.

This article is about how people have never heard of the Las Vegas Film Festival with a mention at the end that Twilighters definitely knew about it because of “How to Be”. l'avis d'un fan qui a vu le film au las vegas festival (j'essaierai de faire la traduction)

Last night I went to go see “How To Be” with my friend, Kate, at the Las Vegas Film Festival. I was amazed to see the variety of different people that showed up for the screening. We were fortunate and smart enough to get there early because with every glance backwards the line got increasingly more crowded and lengthy. It was a sold out show after all. Among the group, I saw a multitude of young girls with bright and beautiful colors in their hair (purple anyone?), mothers with their babies strapped in the front, overexcited girlfriends dragging their non-enthusiastic counterparts (many of which were trying to look busy with their phones…Tetris perhaps?), and everyone in between. The screening took place in the Capitol ballroom, which looked more like a lengthy, over sized hallway with comfortable chairs. It was set up to look like an actual movie theater. Did I mention that there was an impromptu concession stand outside? Anyways, after a brief introduction from 2 men with badges around their neck (very official looking I might add), the lights dimmed, and the film began.

A quick side note before I start my review of the film. If I ever questioned why anyone would want to spend a lovely Friday night indoors, watching a low budget film in a casino, my doubts were quickly answered with a few squeals, claps, giggles, and several groans (probably from the tag along bfs) when something flashed onscreen. Need a hint? 15 letters. 5 syllables.

Having seen the trailers on youtube and various sites, I had an idea of what to expect. I knew that I would be investing 85 minutes with Art, a pathetic loser type who is going through a quarter life crisis. What I expected was not what I got per se. Yes, I did spend 85 minutes with Art, but that wasn’t all. The whole experience became much more personal for me. I suddenly realize that Art just wasn’t a character, but he was an actual person. He was my friend, Kate, that was sitting to my right. He was the lady that was sitting directly behind me. He was also the guy that sat approximately 7 rows ahead of me. Above all, he was a mirror version of me, six years ago in college. Lost. Confused. Hysterical. Self-esteem? What is that? The fact of the matter is that Art is very much a manifestation of every person in that room and beyond. A former or a present version of you. Call it a phase. Teen angst. Hitting a fork in the road. Whatever it may be, we have all gone through it. So instead of being annoyed of this pathetic loser and complicated wreck (I mean how much can one person whine and complain for goodness sakes?), we empathize with him. Or at least I did.

Since I have never done a review before, I honestly don’t know how to properly present one without giving the film away. So my apologies in advance. Let me put it this way. Pattinson’s portrayal of Art was completely spot on. He took us all on an emotional roller coaster, and you felt every sharp turns and sudden dips. Although the sound quality wasn’t great, due to the venue not the film itself, Pattinson’s body language and expressive looks more than made up for inaudible dialogues. He comfortably portrayed an awkward 20 something year old guy who is desperately trying to gain the approval of his parents. He goes through most of the film attempting to recreate the childhood that he views as normal, like having family meals, reading with his father, and hugging his mother. All of which failed miserably and looks rather awkward as well. He even went so far as to visit his old house, running excitedly up to his old room, and lays on a bed while the current inhabitant (a small child) stares at him with discomfort and shock. As they say, “You can’t choose your family, but you can choose your friends.” In Art’s case, his two choices are Ronny and Nikki, portrayed beautifully by Johnny White and Mike Pearce respectively. They really only add to the madness of Art’s life, but they are also the only two that will stick with him no matter what, something of a rarity in Art’s life. Although a real character, I always saw Dr. Levi Ellington, played by Powell Jones, as the voice inside Art’s head. He randomly shows up at very unexpected times and quotes (what I seem to believe) excerpts from his book.

My two favorite scenes are also the two most pivotal points in the film. The first, being a bit of a turning point, is right after Art has a major fight with his mom. He goes outside and starts beating up an unexpected light pole and a tree. The next day, he suddenly realizes that no book or personal therapist is going to solve his problems. That blaming his parents or trying to recreate something that wasn’t there before was not the answer. He had the answer within him. If he concentrated more energy on what he loved doing instead of all the negatives, then maybe he would be more happy. Just maybe. The second scene comes from the end of the movie when he is giving himself a pep talk before the gig. In a way, you felt that the waves were changing for Art, and that he would try to be a more positive person. “You are not a nobody. You are a somebody.” To end this, I will borrow another line from Art that sums up the film, “That was so wicked,”

Hier soir je suis allée voir How To be Avec mon amie Kate au Festival de Las Vegas et je fut surprise par la variété des gens présents. Nous avons eu la chance et l'intelligence d'arriver bien avant car plus on regardait derrière nous plus la file d'attente s'alongeait. C'était à guichet fermé. Dans la foule , il y avait une mutitude de filles aux cheveux extravagants (violet)des femmes avec leu bébés, des petites amies surexcités qui trainaient leur petit amis (beaucoup d'entre d'eux joueaint avec leur téléphone)La projection avait lieu à la salle de bal du capitole dans lequel on avait mis de nombreuses rangées de chaises et n'oublions pas de signaler qu'il y avait aussi pas de mal de gens debout au fond de la salle Bref après une brève intervention de 2 hommes qui avaient un badge officiel autour du cou, les lumières se sont éteintes et le film a démarré

A noter avant que je ne commence ma critique: si jamais quelqu'un se demandait ce qu'il faisait là à rester enfermer un vendredi soirà regarder un film à petit budget dans un casino, les doutes furent vite effacés lorsque j'entendis les gloussement, rires et grognement , soupirs lorsque quelquechose apparut à l'écran, mais si réfléchissez 15 lettres 5 syllabes

Ayant vu la BA sur youtube et quelques extraits je savais à quoi m'attendre. Je savais que c'était un investissement de 85 minutes pour Art, un loser pathétique qui travarse la crise existentielle, mais je n'y allais pas pour cela. Oui j'ai passé 85 minutes de pure plaisir avec ARt mais ce n'est pas tout. L'expérience devint de plus en plus personnelle: je me suis rendue compte que ce qui était Art n'était pas le film mais une véritable personne: c'était mon amie Kate assise à ma droite, c'était cette femme en face de moi, c'etait aussi le gars assis 7 rangées devant moi, c'était un reflet de moi lorsque j'étais à la fac il y a 6 ans: perdue , pleine de confusion hystérique. L'estime de soi, c'est quoi ce truc! On se retrouvait tous dans ce film Donc au lieu de s'ennuyer avec ce looser pathétique (comment peut on se plaindre et geindre autant??) on sympathise avec lui, en tout cas en ce qui me concerne

N'ayant jamais fait de critique avant je ne sais pas où commencer donc veuillez m'excuser par avance. Donc le portrait fait par Pattinson est super, il nous fait passer d'une émotion à l'autre en un rien de temps. Malgrè la qualité médiocre du son, le langage corporel et les regards qui en disent long font oublier les dialogues inaudibles. Il dresse parfaitement le portrait un jeune homme maladroit de 20 ans qui tente par tous les moyens de plaire à ses parents. Il passe tout le film à tenter dde recréer une enfance dite normale faite de repas familiaux, de lecture avec son père et de tendresse avec sa mère. C'est un echec. Il rend visite çà son ancienne maison, s'alloonge sur son ancien lien sous les yeux horrifiès de l'actuel propiétaire , un jeune enfant. Comme on dit " on ne choisit pas sa famille on choisit ses amis". Pour Art ce sont Nikki et Ronny (joués par ....)Ils ajoutent un grain de folie dans la vie d'ARt. Bien qu'il ssoit un personnage réel j'ai percu le Dr comme la voix intérieur d'ARt. Il aparait quand on s'y attend le moins et cite des extraits de son livre

Mes 2 scénes favoris sont 2 scenes clés du film. La première c'est celle où Art se bat avec sa mère. Il sort de chez lui et se met à frapper un poteau électrique et un arbre. Le lendemain, il se rend compte que ni un livre ni un thérapeute ne pourront l'aider à résoudre ses problèmes, que faire des reproches à ses parents ou recréer ce qui n'a jamais existé n'est pas la clé non plus. Il a la réponse en lui. S'il concentrait toute son énergie à faire ce qu'il aime au lieu de se concentrer sur ce qui ne va pas, il pourrait être heureux. La 2ème scéne c'est à la fin du film lorsqu'il fait son discours d'encouragement avant de jouer en live
d'une certaine manière vous sentez que les choses changent pour Art, et qu'il va essayé d'être plus positif : tu es quelqu'un . Pour finir, je vais emprunter une réplique d'Art "C'était trop bien"
